Brownie’s Marine Enters Strategic Alliance With Precision Paddleboards, Inc. Will Create New Revenue Stream for Brownie’s Adventure Center Locations

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Apr 13, 2012 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) — Brownie’s Marine Group, Inc. (OTCBB:BWMG), a leading developer, manufacturer and distributor of highly specialized dive and safety products, today announced its entry into the “SUP” (Stand Up Paddle Board) market with its new venture Brownie’s Adventure Centers and strategic alliance with Precision Paddleboards.

“Working with the Precision Paddleboards, Inc. (“Precision”) team makes sense. Precision was the first SUP specialty store in Broward County, and has been named “Best Paddleboard Shop in South Florida” by both the New Times and Gold Coast/Boca Life Magazines. The company really understands the paddleboard customer and the market,” said, Robert Carmichael, Brownie’s Chairman and CEO.

Brownie’s Adventure Centers will usher in a new wave of retail consumer experiences centered on excellence in training, expert product selection guidance, and adventure preparedness. Precision brings experienced and fully-insured instructors along with leadership active in the racing community.

“Stand up Paddle Boarding (SUP) is the world’s fastest-growing watersport — it has appeal across every demographic, age, and fitness level. And unlike surfing, paddle boarding is very easy to learn, in as little at 45 minutes.” said Joshua Vajda, President of Precision Paddleboards, Inc. “Brownie’s great name in the dive and yacht community combined with their new Adventure Center concept aligns perfectly with our vision for SUP distribution and the SUP lifestyle.” Precision will assist Brownie’s in the development of the “Brownie’s Adventure Centers” beginning with the conversion of the Boca Raton site expected to open in May of this year.

Stand up paddle boarding is ideal for warm coastal climates and resorts because it is something the whole family can do, kids to grandparent. The sport is also growing among a wider range of athletic types including, cross-over athletes, yoga instructors, and surfers, because it offers a great core workout, builds endurance and balance, and surfers don’t need to schedule it around high and low tides.

“We are proud to have Josh and crew onboard at the ground level to help us build out a “Precision Paddleboards” niche in our path forward,” stated Robert Carmichael, Brownie’s Chairman and CEO. “We have anxiously observed the growth of SUP and recognize many of the same strengths and weaknesses apparent in the diving industry as well. It is hard to imagine building a sustainable retail business model today on a single consumer demographic alone; combining the full range of diving techniques and products with the dynamic SUP market is more likely to pollenate success.”

About Precision Paddleboards, Inc.

Brownie’s Marine Launches “iTOOKAdive” Resort Product and Licensing Program in Singer Island, West Palm Beach, Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Apr 9, 2012 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) — Brownie’s Marine Group, Inc. (OTCBB:BWMG), a leading developer, manufacturer and distributor of highly specialized dive and safety products, today announced the launch of a new resort operator dive experience licensing program and product named TOOKA(TM) (Tank Supplied Hookah), with its first location on Singer Island near West Palm Beach, Florida.

The program offers beach goers and tourists the opportunity to enjoy the simplicity and marvel of surface supplied air diving and guided underwater tours with the assistance of professional instructors. The product is a new innovation from Brownie’s Marine Group utilizing a purpose-designed and built raft that robustly supports two (2) scuba tanks on the surface supplying multiple divers air through long hoses to breathing regulators, much like the gas and electric powered Brownie’s Third Lung Hookah diving systems. TOOKA(TM) combines Brownie’s patented “DWC” tow belt, PELETON(TM) hose system with “QRS” (quick-release-swivel hose fittings) and other Brownie’s hookah components leveraging “efficiencies of scale” and delivering an unparalleled diving experience.

The TOOKA(TM) is available to qualified operators through a targeted licensing program developed to easily and safely introduce people to diving, build Brownie’s brand awareness, and generate an ongoing monthly revenue stream for both Brownie’s and its partners. The potential locations that could benefit from a TOOKA(TM) program include thousands of warm-water vacation destinations around the globe.

The TOOKA(TM) program has been in “beta-operation” since the initial announcement of the product development at the annual industry dive show, DEMA in 2010. This Easter weekend marks the official launch to the general public. The Singer Island-West Palm Beach TOOKA(TM) program is headed up by Dan Volker, founder of the “South Florida Dive Journal”, who along with instructors from local dive store and collaborator, Pura-Vida Divers, has already undergone TOOKA(TM) instructor certification.

“Singer Island represents the ideal location to kick off the TOOKA(TM) program. On one side of the Island there is the world famous Blue Heron Bridge, an ideal drive-to beach with a spectacular underwater park where people come from all over the world to see nudibranchs, octopus, frogfish, sea horses and dozens of other small creatures that are rarely seen elsewhere in the world. On the beach side of Singer Island, there are several hundred yards of reef rising up to 8 feet off the bottom, in less than 15 feet of water, close to shore. On an island with a tourist flow of between 6,000 and 10,000 new people every two weeks, this is a spectacular opportunity to introduce some of Florida’s most beautiful underwater sights, to non-divers, with little more effort than required to enjoy a ride at Disney World.”, said Dan Volker. Mr. Volker further added: “Unlike scuba diving which requires a complex buoyancy compensator, gauge skills and heavy equipment, it isn’t necessary to master any of these skill prior to taking a TOOKA(TM) dive.”

“Interest for the TOOKA(TM) has been growing for the last few years as we tweaked our product and licensing program to meet market conditions and goals. TOOKA(TM) is an ideal method to introduce vacationers to the wonderful underwater world. The experience is much like snorkeling, with the added benefit of being able to stay down and experience the brilliance of the other 2/3rd’sof our world; it is simple and easy. We are very excited about this program and believe the addition of this new business venture will be a boon for not just Brownie’s Marine Group, but the entire dive industry. It’s the ideal way to show novices what they are missing and get them started in a sport that will provide a lifetime of adventure,” stated Robert Carmichael, Brownie’s Chairman and CEO.

To accompany the new business venture a new website has been established called www.itookadive.com (to be read: I-took-a-dive dot com).

Brownie’s Marine Group Expands Distribution Network in California for Its NitroxMaker(TM) and Yacht-Pro(TM) Compressors

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Apr 5, 2012 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) –

Brownie’s Marine Group, Inc. (OTCBB:BWMG), a leading developer, manufacturer and distributor of highly specialized dive and safety products, today announced the appointment of Compressed Air Specialists (“CAS”) as a dealer, installation and service center for its innovative and highly regarded Brownie’s NitroxMaker(TM) and Yacht Pro(TM) series of scuba tank fill compressors.

CAS services the scuba industry counting more than 50 stores, over 400 fire departments and an impressive list of very high profile clients including the US Navy, US Marine Corp and the US Air Force. Additionally, Ocean Enterprises (a full-line Brownie’s dealer) is a key account of CAS.

Beginning as L.L. Bern Specialties, CAS has operated successfully in Southern California for over 50 years. CAS is now on their 3rdgeneration in the business, from its beginnings with Leonard Bern to Charles Townsend, and now with Shane and Shawn Townsend leading the way; CAS has become a respected standard in the breathing air industry.

Robert Carmichael, Chairman and CEO of Brownie’s Marine Group stated. “We are extremely pleased and fortunate to have a company the caliber of CAS representing us the West Coast. They come with decades of field experience and a fantastic reputation. The West Coast has widespread potential for our uniquely adapted dive store and yacht-based products so strengthening our position and reach there is of high priority to us as we move beyond the South Florida market”.

“We are thrilled to enter the agreement with Brownie’s Marine Group and see a great fit between our companies. The technology has come a long way and we are especially impressed by the Brownie’s NitroxMaker(TM)”, said Tracy Weaver Service Manager of CAS.” In particular the Brownie’s NitroxMaker(TM) operates at low temperatures thereby avoiding the previous technologies problem of voiding compressor warranties by exceeding the inlet temperature limits. Furthermore, we are especially happy about the safety and performance advantages the NitroxMaker(TM) offers compared with the potential hazards of partial blending systems and the old high-temperature membrane systems”.

“Despite the significant demands from our customers, for over a decade, we have steered clear of offering any Nitrox systems for sale due to safety concerns which is very important for us in our recommendations to our customers. This is truly an exciting opportunity because it now enables us to capture those lost sales with the high quality Brownie’s products,” Charlie Townsend, the President of CAS concluded.

In Search Of Trey’s Propeller

Note: There are two videos for you to see here on this post

Losing a propeller can be a costly affair and to add to the damage it may take quite a while for a replacement to be available.

Recently one of our long standing friends lost one of his propellers as it suddenly broke off at the shaft. Initially his thoughts were that they had hit something, but he soon came to realize that one of the propellers was missing.

Backtracking over his recent course his made his best guess at where this had happened and made a note of the coordinates.

Upon return he contacted Brownie’s Marine Group’s CEO, Robert Carmichael, and asked if he was up for the task of trying to find it and with luck salvage it. Robert of course jumped right on board for the challenge and mustered a gang consisting of Errol, Bill, Alan and Me (Mikkel) and this Saturday we took of in search of Trey’s propeller.

It was a beautiful morning and we took off just as the mornings first rays from the sun started to appear. We convened at the dock at the back of the Brownie’s Southport Diver store and loaded the boat and eased off out towards the sea. Port Everglades was buzzing with practically a rush hour of cruise liners either docked already or just about to and just outside the inlet even more were on their way.

The ocean was about as flat as anyone could have wished for so it made our about one hour travel time to destination pleasant and smooth. Portuguese man of war were plenty abound on the surface on our way there and they glistened in the sun light as the light really broke through.

Arriving at the coordinates that Trey had marked, we dropped the anchor and ran through our dive plan. We were going to set up as two dive teams, sending in the first team and in case they would return empty handed, we would send the second team for another try. Using Halcyon under water scooters, the so-called Halcyon HDVs, we would make a criss cross sweep pattern in the hopes that at some point we would spot the treasure: Trey’s Propeller.

Well, it turns out that we were lucky and not least that Trey had made absolutely a brilliant job at guessing and estimating the point of where he lost the propeller, so within about 15 minutes the first team spotted the propeller.

Errol Surfacing After The Propeller Had Been Located

Bill Surfacing After The Propeller Had Been Located

They resurfaced and were handed a rope to tie to the propeller so that we could hoist it up. They attached an 80 lbs liftbag to the propeller, but seeing the propeller probably weighed around 150-200 pounds that did not do much, so from the surface we sent down a big lift bag (probably it was a 500 lbs liftbag), which they then attached and that certainly helped. A little bit of gas into the liftbag and it soon ascended up through the water column up to the surface.

Meanwhile top side crew had rigged up the small davit which would prove really helpful in hoisting the propeller up from the surface onto the boat without damaging the boat. Everything went really smoothly and efficiently.

We were running way ahead of the schedule as we had planned to get the first dive in commencing about 9:15 am, and now it was 9:14 am and already we had the propeller safely onboard.

This also spelled great news for our friend Trey as a propeller like this easily could run upwards US$ 20,000 and not only that, he would probably have to suffer a delivery time of about 3 months.

We have compiled this little video below from the propeller treasure hunt.

Since we had planned for contingencies in case we would have trouble finding the propeller, and since we found it so quickly, it meant that we not only had loads of breathing gas, but also lots of extra time to spend. And seeing we were in such wonderful waters near Bimini it would have been a great shame not to go and have a leisurely dive just for fun and the sights.

Alan Scouting The Beautiful Dive Site

Robert looked at the chart and suggested a spot for us to dive nearby. The spot turned out to be a real oasis of wonderful wildlife and we had a great dive there. We split up into two teams consisting of Robert and Bill, who would be diving the great Brownie’s VS Third Lung (the revolutionary all battery powered hookah diving system developed by Brownie’s Marine Group) and the other team consisting of Errol, Alan and Me all on open circuit systems.

It was a beautiful and very relaxing dive and we enjoyed the company of a majestic nurse shark, a moray eel, many lobsters, lion fish, hordes of barracudas, a puffer fish and a stingray and many, many more different fish.

This leisure dive, however, also has come to serve as our first dive of many, many more to come in future in our launch of our Gulfstream initiative for Project Baseline. Project Baseline is a brain child of Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) and the project’s mission is to protect our world’s aquatic environments and the clean water supply on which they depend.

First Video From The Triton Submarine Sea Trials In The Bahamas

Brownie’s Marine Group wishes everybody a very fantastic and happy New Year. We hope you have entered well and in style and wish you the best year ever.

As mentioned in an earlier post, we were recently supporting the sea trials of the new Triton 3300/3 submarine in the deep waters of the Bahamas.

During the days of these sea trials we managed to capture a bunch of photos and quiet a bit of videos too. Personally, I was happy to make my way way there for a few of the days and was very glad to partake in the event.

Here is the first of the videos that came out of the trip.
